Fishing

Where do your fishing trips take place?

We fish the Zambezi River above Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, running from the river by boat on water our guides know well.

What fish can I target?

The main draw is the tigerfish — fast and hard-fighting. We also encounter bream (tilapia) and catfish. Your guide matches tackle and tactics to the species you're keenest on and the day's conditions.

How long do trips last?

A half-day trip is about 3 hours and a full-day trip about 5 hours. Private and multi-day fishing safaris can be arranged on enquiry.

Is fishing equipment provided?

Yes — rods, reels, tackle, lures and bait are included, along with the boat and safety gear. You're welcome to bring your own gear; just let us know.

What should I bring?

Sun protection above all: a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a long-sleeve layer. Bring water, a light snack if you like, and a camera for the catch.

Can beginners book?

Absolutely. Many guests fish for the first time with us. Our guides set the day to your level and help you through casting, the strike and landing a fish.

What is the best time of year to fish?

Fishing changes through the year with water levels and temperature, and tigerfish activity is often strongest in the warmer months. Tell us your travel dates and we'll give you an honest view of what to expect.

Is catch and release available?

Yes — many anglers release their tigerfish, and we encourage careful handling and release to protect the fishery. Let your guide know your preference.

Safety on the river

Do you provide life jackets?

Yes. Life jackets are on board for every guest and are fitted before we leave the jetty. Children are fitted with appropriately sized jackets.

Who skippers the boats, and are they maintained?

Our boats are run by experienced skippers and kept maintained, with safety equipment, life rings and a first-aid kit on board. We give a short safety briefing before each trip.

Is it safe with hippos and crocodiles in the river?

The Zambezi is home to hippos and crocodiles, and we treat them with respect. Our guides keep safe distances, read the river, and ask that you stay seated in the boat and follow their instructions — this is a normal part of fishing here and our guides do it every day.

What happens in bad weather?

If weather or river conditions make fishing unsafe, we'll adjust the plan, shorten the trip or reschedule. Your safety comes before the fishing.

Can children come along?

Yes, children are welcome with adult supervision and a correctly fitted life jacket. The shaded pontoon is especially comfortable for families.

Should I have travel or medical insurance?

We recommend all guests travel with their own travel and medical insurance, as you would for any activity on your trip. Tell us about any medical conditions or mobility needs in advance so we can prepare.

Booking & logistics

Are transfers included?

Transfer arrangements vary by trip and where you're staying. Tell us your hotel or lodge in your enquiry and we'll confirm pick-up details and any transfer cost — we run our own 4x4 for pick-ups.

How do bookings and payments work?

Submitting the form sends a booking enquiry — it isn't a confirmed booking. We reply with availability and pricing, and confirm your trip once any payment arrangements are agreed.

Can I book a multi-day safari?

Yes. Every multi-day safari is built around fishing, with cruises, game drives, the falls or a scenic flight added on. See our multi-day safaris page and send your dates for a tailored plan and quote.

Can groups or corporate clients enquire?

Yes — we arrange whole-boat private charters and group bookings. Send your group size and dates and we'll put the right trip together.
